As one of the world’s leading engineering and design consultancies, Atkins is already delivering significant projects in the Eastern Province such as Dammam 3 Industrial City and Ras Al-Khair Industrial City (RIC).
The company’s new office will provide Atkins with a permanent base in Eastern Saudi Arabia from which to deliver its full range of services across the property; mixed use infrastructure; transportation; defense, security and communications; planning and management consultancy; programand cost management; and energy sectors.
Richard Barrett, regional chief executive, says: “We firmly believe in the importance of being local. Only by having people based in our core territories can we truly understand our market and the needs of our clients.
“The Eastern Province is a key part of our growth plans in the region and our new office puts down a clear marker of our commitment to truly help our clients solve their infrastructure challenges.”
Atkins and respected architect Mohamed Harasani formed a partnership in 2011 which licenses the company to deliver its complete range of design services across the Kingdom, including construction supervision work. The partnership unites Atkins’ full breadth of technical expertise and multinational experience with Mohamed Harasani’s deep professional knowledge of the local market.
Atkins has been working in Saudi Arabia since the 1970s, ranging from strategic investment studies for Saudi Arabia Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) to key defense-related projects. More recently, the company’s work has included major transport infrastructure projects such as Makkah Metro and King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, as well as high profile masterplanning exercises such as Oasis City, Sub-Center East in Riyadh.
