He also praised the Saudi leadership for making excellent arrangements for the preparation of Kiswa and for preserving Muslim heritage.
During a visit to the Kiswa factory and Exhibition of the Two Holy Mosques Architecture in Makkah, Awan said the Saudi leadership deserved all praise for preserving the Muslim heritage. Awan was briefed on the preparation of Kiswa and shown its various stages.  Kiswa factory was set up in Makkah around 74 years ago by King Abdul Aziz. A new Kiswa is made every year by expert embroiders who work at the factory.
The Kiswa consists of 47 pieces of cloth and each piece is 14 meters long and 101 cm wide. The Kiswa is wrapped around the Kaaba and fixed to the ground with copper rings. It is composed of three parts: A Sitaar (curtain) of the Kaaba door, an inner lining curtain inside the Kaaba and a Hizam (the belt). Awan appreciated the skills of the workers at the factory. Consul General Abdul Salik Khan, Deputy Consul General Imran Ahmed Siddiqui and other diplomats from the Consulate General of Pakistan accompanied Sen. Awan.
