This has helped STC to succeed and proceed ahead to enter the world big 10 ranked first firms, which are greatly growing in providing broadband services, said Mazyad Nasser Al-Harbi, STC vice president for home services.
Indeed, he said, this highlighted the top priority given to different and various broad-band-related services in the STC strategy.
Al-Harbi made the remarks at TELSA, the first forum of its kind to be held for communications and telecommunications and information technology’s industry in the Kingdom.
STC has moved ahead of all in the region, by adopting the technology of G4 LTE, as the first operator to introduce G4 related services, thus, managed to consolidate its regional leadership.
This step, followed STC introduction of G3.5 (G3 advanced version) services as well as optic fibers services (FTTH), to put at avail a record speeds in accessing the Internet.
It was also the unique and first operator in providing that feature, according to the STC statement.
The G4 is the best of choices for a new epoch of mobile systems, because it promotes the capacity and efficiency of the networks, alike, he said, adding that the real speed of this technology’s transport stands at more than 100Mbps in case of data reception.
In addition, LTE technique allows operators to provide fixed phones-related services via the mobile network, Al-Harbi remarked.
STC have directly contributed to the spread of Internet in the Kingdom, and with increasingly growing ratios, in recent years.
The total number of users stood by the end of 2011 at more than 13 million users, almost 70 percent of the population of the Kingdom, he said.
An Arab individual, on average, spends 200 minutes a day online, 155 minutes to watch the TVs and spends 50 percent of his leisure time to see video clips from on the net, he added.
The Saudi customers rank high in daily You Tube usage on the mobiles, Al-Harbi said.
