Ali S. Al-Barrak, CEO of the company, said the new transformer would be established south of Jeddah with a power of 380/110/13.8KV, adding that the plant would be ready within 29 months.
The contract includes designing, engineering work, import of materials and equipment, installation, testing and operation, Al-Barrak said.
"We have planned to establish the new transformer as part of our efforts to strengthen the company's power supply to meet increasing demand," the CEO said.
Speaking about the company's budget for 2012, he said SEC has made allocations for a number of new electricity projects including power generating plants and transport and distribution lines.
"We intend to provide electricity connections to 350,000 new customers in various parts of the country," he added.
