The chief guest for the occasion was Jaber Al-Naqib, dean of communications at King Saud University.
In his opening address, School Principal M.H.M. Huvailudeen said the institution has been rendering dedicated services to promote the education of the Sri Lankan community’s children staying in the capital.
The school has more than 1,000 students on its roll with 65 teachers. The institution had performed well in all public examinations. Some of the students who have passed out from the institution are currently reading at various medical, engineering and arts colleges and universities throughout the world, the principal said.
“The occasion is a very good opportunity for our tiny tots to exhibit their talents before their parents and teachers,” A.L.M. Hashim, chairman of the board of management of the school, said in his address. He added the school provides the right training to children to develop their skills through curricular and extra-curricular activities. Around 300 children are reading in the primary section of the school.
“The performance of the children enthralled the audience,” he said, adding the little ones came up on the platform with a lot of confidence. He thanked the teachers who organized the cultural show and the parents who assisted them to make this event a grand success.
In his brief speech, Al-Naqib stressed the role of community schools in imparting education among their children.
Congratulating the young ones who came and performed excellently at the show, Al-Naqib suggested such programs should highlight matters of local interests too.
