Yahya bin Saeed Al-Mania, director of media at the university, said the program aims at educating students on dangerous effect of drugs on a person’s physical and mental health and attitude.
“It will also highlight the role of students in safeguarding their colleagues from using drugs,” Al-Mania said.
“We want to train a group of students for this purpose.”
He said the three-day program would witness the presentation of a number of research papers by experts on various aspects of the topic.
An exhibition will be staged on the sidelines of the forum highlighting the dangerous effects of drug abuse, the media official said. Two documentary films will also be screened during the function.
In the first session, four research papers will be presented targeting teaching staff, students and administrative staff. Abdullah Al-Qarni, chief justice in Baha, will talk on drug abuse in the light of Shariah.
Dr. Sultan Al-Ghamdi, director of Mental Hospital in Baljurashi and Dr. Ali Al-Subaie, dean of the College of Medical Sciences, will speak about the challenges posed by drugs in Saudi society.
