After the assassination of Osama Bin Laden last May, the family was kept safe and two weeks back they were shifted to federal capital after the government announced that they would be tried under foreign act as per the law of the land.
Chief commissioner Islamabad yesterday declared the residence situated in posh area as sub jail with order to initiate the trial and jail trial. Federal government as provided the residence under tight security where trial of the family began on Saturday.
After over 10 months of detention in secret location, the family was charged with violating foreign act as entering into Pakistan without legal documents, staying for long time illegally and hiding their actual identity as per the foreign act, section 441 of Pakistan penal code.
While talking to Arab News, Amal Sada’s lawyer, Mohammad Amir Khalil, pleaded that the court has initiated legal proceeding for the first time as jail trial due to security reasons. He mentioned that the FIR was sealed and did not know about the charges.
He said that civil trial judge has given remand of his clients until March 26th and he would prepare his case after receiving official charge sheet, which has not been given.
