According to Deputy Chairman of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) Abdullah Al-Jehani, tourism development councils in various parts of the Kingdom concluded the grounding for the upcoming activities. With the support of SCTA and the provinces’ governors and other partners, the councils will turn the activities into cultural, educational, sportive and entertaining festivities suitable for all society members.
Al-Jehani confirmed that SCTA is greatly concerned with encouraging local trips during short holidays breaks to enjoy what the Kingdom has to offer in natural and historical locations as well as various goings-on and activities.
The upcoming mid-term activities are aiming to contribute toward social development and enhancing family ties, Al-Jehani said, adding that they will provide job opportunities and help stir the economic cycle in the areas where the activities take place. They will also support productive families to market their products.
Al-Jehani called on travel agents to promote suitable programs for Saudi families during this vacation, and on hospitality companies to support the SCTA’s mission to promote local tourism through improving their services and providing suitable prices.
“Every area in the Kingdom has its identity, cultural and natural characteristics, which turns local tourism into an enjoyable experience,” said Al-Jehani, adding that citizens are welcoming and hospitable which helps turn local tourism into a social and economic success.
The various festivals and activities, Al-Jehani indicated, are frequently developing and maturing as a result of the partnership between the SCTA and the provinces. The mid-term vacation will start on March 22 and will last 10 days.
The festivals include Hail Rally, Village Souk in Al-Ghat in Riyadh, Festival of Horses in Tabuk, Jazan Heritage Festival, Tourist Heritage Festival Week in Najran, Ahsa Rural Festival in the Eastern Province and Al-Jouf Festival in Sakaka. The Heritage Village festival in Jazan, Al-Buhaitah Festival in Taif and the Onaizah Festival in Qassim will be organized by agencies other than tourism promotion councils.
The SCTA has made arrangements to provide information about the festival on a toll free number: 8007550000. The festival schedules are posted on http://event.sct.gov.sa. For more information log on to www.sauditourism.com.sa.
