The airline will increase its frequency from four to six per week each direction starting from May 19. Together, these additional flights will offer 544 more seats. The extra flights offer more flight options for Saudi business travelers and visitors to travel to Bahrain and more flights for Bahraini pilgrims, who now have more choices to visit this holy city.
"The introduction of additional flights between Madinah and Bahrain emphasizes the importance we attach to Saudi Arabia," said Gulf Air CEO Samer Majali. "Our business strategy is to concentrate on high-demand routes to ensure our core customer base is served effectively and efficiently."
Gulf Air has been flying to Saudi Arabia since 1950 and has been operating to Madinah since June 2010. "Since then we have continuously expanded and strengthened our presence connecting customers from the far corners of the Kingdom to the world through our network," he said.
"The departure and arrival timings of the additional flights have been timed in such a way that they benefit both international and regional travelers whether on business or pilgrimage.
"I would like to thank colleagues at the General Authority of Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia for their cooperation in securing the additional traffic rights," said Majali.
With the introduction of additional flights, Gulf Air's Madinah customers now have even more convenient choices via Bahrain to connect to Europe, Afghanistan, Kenya and Thailand and to North America with codeshare partner American Airlines. Customers are also now connected to two more new destinations, Kabul and Peshawar in addition to getting onward connections to Mumbai, Delhi, Kochi and Chennai within one hour via Bahrain.
Gulf Air operates a combination of narrow and wide body aircraft on these routes.
