The aim to organize this event exclusively for ladies was to promote cultural activities and provide an opportunity for them to socialize, said Feroza Rafeek, the organizer and chairwoman of the society.
“In future we would like to arrange a similar evening and include also Saudi ladies and women of other nationalities to have a cultural exchange so we can understand each other better,” she added.
Another aim of the evening was to unite the community and let the women meet freely and have fun. “We all need to gather to keep the friendship and strengthen the community for which such events are very important. Laughter is medicine of the soul, and we tried to give this medicine to the women in our community,” said Rafeek.
“Many Sri Lankan ladies in Saudi Arabia don’t have time to mingle as used to do in our country. I wanted our guests to feel free, make friends, exchange views, and share opinions on the development of their children‘s education, the community and our country,” she added.
“I am glad that Sri Lankan Expatriate Society tried to arrange some entertainment program for ladies, as ladies have no chance to go out, meet with people and enjoy. The most important is unity and I appreciated the expat society and its president for arranging something for the Sri Lankan community without any religious discrimination. Unity is strength,” said chief guest Adam Uthumalebbe.
