ISESCO, an affiliate of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), was represented by its Director General Abdulaziz Al-Tuwaijri at the signing ceremony. The agreement aims to strengthen joint Islamic work in various fields of mutual concern, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Speaking on the occasion, Prince Faisal said signing the deal emphasizes the conviction of both sides that the lofty ideals and fundamentals of Islam call for bolstering cooperation and integration among people.
“This also reflects our keenness in giving prominence to issues related to education, culture and sciences that would help strengthen solidarity of the Ummah, as well as its advancement,” he said.
The governor also highlighted the great role played by the King Khaled Charity Foundation in identifying the needs of society and exerting efforts to fulfill them through development projects with the active participation of leading local and international organizations.
“This would result in strengthening the role of various sections of society in different fields in a way serving the national economy and strengthening sustained economic growth,” he added.
Al-Tuwaijri described the signing of the agreement as “an excellent qualitative addition” to ISESCO’s partnership programs in its various fields of activity, especially the care of orphans and addressing their social, educational and cultural affairs.
“The agreement would pave the way for strengthening mutual cooperation between the two parties in various fields such as organizing forums, meetings, workshops, training courses, joint programs and issuing studies and research in issues of mutual concern,” he said.
ISESCO is one of the largest international Islamic organizations and specializes in the fields of education, science and culture. The organization’s objectives include strengthening cooperation among 57 member states of OIC in the fields of education, science, culture and communication, developing applied sciences and use of advanced technology within the framework of Islamic values and ideals, in addition to consolidating understanding among Muslims, and contributing to the achievement of world peace and security, particularly through education, science, culture and communications.
