Cosmetics spending in Kingdom may exceed SR10bn

Ali, who was speaking on the occasion of the second edition of the “Beauty and Fashion Exhibition” in here yesterday, said that the event now ranks as "the biggest lifestyle exhibition dedicated for ladies of the Middle East, which brings all the major international and local brands under one platform". "The steady rise of beauty sector in the Middle East, with the biggest contribution from Saudi Arabia, really tells the story of how much the consumers of this market have grown," said Ali, a media and PR veteran.
He said that "the importance of improving lifestyle inspires us every time to do as much as possible for each and every visitor." The growing number of beauty and fashion consumers, which comprises mostly of women, gives us more reasons to establish this beauty exhibition in Saudi Arabia which represents the biggest market of the Middle East, added Ali. He said that the Saudi women spend a lot on their appearances and at beauty salons in the Kingdom.
"Our challenge has always been to keep intact the quality of the event for each and every participant and the team this time really exceeded the expectations in terms of delivery at the beauty  exhibition," he added. Asked about the growth of beauty industry in the Kingdom, Ali pointed out that women in Saudi Arabia are among the most beauty conscious in the Middle East region, fueling rapid growth in the sale of beauty and personal care products. 
According to Euromonitor International, the market for skin care products alone in the Kingdom is set to grow at healthy rates, to be worth SR1.8 billion by 2014. Skin whitening products and anti-ageing creams as well as lotions are traditionally high selling items in the Saudi market. Last year, Saudi women spent almost SR9 billion on cosmetics with projections that the market will grow by 11 percent this year.
