During the meeting, pressing matters in the region were reviewed, particularly the situation in Syria and the displacement of large numbers of Syrian citizens to neighboring countries including Turkey, Jordan, and Lebanon.
Cooperation between the two sides in serving common humanitarian objectives was also discussed, in addition to an exchange of experiences and joint training courses.
They also discussed mechanisms to document relief assistance provided by the Kingdom in the records and reports of the International Federation as well as how to train an international relief team that is to be created soon.
The Red Crescent president underlined the Kingdom’s keenness led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to provide humanitarian assistance to refugees and the needy in various parts of the world.
He explained a team from the Saudi Red Crescent Authority will visit the International Federation in Geneva next week to give them a $1 million donation and to contribute to the initiative of the International Federation of bridging the digital divide and increasing the capacity of concerned national societies and improving communications.
