Shaffe lauded the valuable contributions rendered by the committee and thanked its members for their consistent support in the smooth functioning of the institution.
Outgoing Chairman John Thomas recalled the first day of their induction three and a half years ago. "We were seven when taking over and reduced to six due to the tragic death of Muhammad Asghar Khan in a car accident," he said.
Thomas prayed for the realization of the school’s dream of having their own school complex.
“To realize the dream of having our own school complex, suitable land has been located near the existing school premises. We are awaiting final approval from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”
He paid tribute to the teachers. “The welfare of the staff and faculty had been our priority and we have done our best in revising their pay scales effective from April 2011. We also approved the long-pending demand for the end-of-service benefits for all.”
Highlighting the outgoing committee’s various achievements, Thomas said they recruited 30 teachers from India. Focusing on the safety and security of the children, he said: “We now have our own ambulance facility and a patrolling system has been introduced.” He said as part of ensuring student safety and to enforce discipline, CCTV surveillance systems have been installed.
Considering the school’s daily computing transactions, IISD implemented an ERP (enterprise resource planning software) to streamline administration, finance, academics and the library. The initial slow response of the server is in its fixing stage. To overcome the growing demand, it has also upgraded the existing library and laboratory using state-of-the-art technology.
Thomas said it was gratifying to see a sense of discipline and moral values among students. “This is because of the moral values instilled among the students and the intellectual deliberations taking place on the campus,” he said.
According to him, the IISD goes through a constant reorientation of its program in line with the changing needs of society by adopting innovative ideas. “This has enabled the school to distinguish itself in terms of quality education,” he said.
Thomas called on society in general and the schools in particular to develop children into becoming responsible citizens by cultivating a humane attitude, a spirit of tolerance and civic sense.
“We hope we have attended all school issues and proved our efficiency in administration by improving all fronts of academic excellence, discipline and welfare with total transparency of actions,” Thomas added.
