Since Toastmasters in Saudi Arabia emerged as a district of its own under the leadership of Khalid Matlagaitu, the growth of the Toastmasters movement has been phenomenal.
According to Division L Governor Jacob Kuriakose, nearly 800 members have joined the fraternity in Jubail alone and there are 26 clubs. Of these, 18 function under the patronage of SABIC affiliates. Each club has a membership base of 30-40 members and meets fortnightly.
The Toastmasters program aims to build self-confidence in members through communication and leadership training. It brings together young professionals from industry and commerce irrespective of nationality and culture.
“The division conference will bring together members from all the clubs in a two-day mega event,” said Conference Chairman Syed Jamal Zaheer. “Toastmasters 1994 world champion of public speaking, Morgan McArthur, and Adel Shaheen Al-Dosary, professor and chairman, are scheduled to grace the event.”
