“We put a stall over in the exhibition of the Forum of Productive Families 2012 to display the handmade products of our students and let the public know that Saudi women can do excellent jobs after getting training, even while staying at home,” said Ibtisam Fatehadeen, trainer at the institute.
“The workshops are given in the evening at the Hilton, where we are teaching two majors. One is hair styling and beauty and other is home decoration,” she added.
The institute organized the technical and vocational training workshops on the sidelines of the Productive Families Forum that started on Saturday under the auspices of Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, governor of Makkah, and Prince Mishal bin Majed, governor of Jeddah.
Fatehadeen added that participation in the forum is quite beneficial not only for the institute but for the public as well because they will learn that under the government’s supervision there is a technical institute for learning where they can learn fashion design, home decorations, hair styling and others. The public will also learn more about Saudi women’s work and talent.
Nada Bint Naghi, dean of the institute, said participants would get certificates from the institute. “The aim of these workshops is to teach Saudi women the basic skills in home decoration and beauty care.
Such workshops are ideal for those who wish to enter in this field as professionals, as we teach even the difficult technical skills,” she said.
She added that the aim of this event is to highlight the importance of technical training as well as to encourage Saudi women toward becoming self employed, open small businesses, pursue alternative careers through technical training, and also to highlight the leading role of the institute in supporting the professional work of local women.
“The involvement of the technical sector in the development of Saudi women through organizing such programs can raise the efficiency and capabilities of Saudi women and turn them into productive forces for the development of the country,” said Naghi.
