The article by Jamal Doumani was an eye opener. The situation in Iraq is really bad but unfortunately the focus of international media has completely been shifted to other parts of the world. It seems as if everybody has completely forgotten Iraq. I believe it is up to the Iraqis now to act in the interest of their country. It will be their call. Instead of depending on foreign powers, the Iraqis should themself decide the fate of their country. I feel a united Iraq would be in the larger interest of all the Iraqis. They should not allow Iran to wage a proxy war and should think on nationalistic lines. If the Iraqis do not forge unity among their ranks, they will be responsible for a disaster, which is already in the making. I also think the ruling government and its policies are very much responsible for the sectarian and ethnic strife in the country. Disintegration of Iraq will be a disaster of the century. I am sure at the end of the day; Iraqis will regret their actions. — Ahsan Ali, Riyadh
