RIYADH: MHA scored a thrilling six-run win over Saleheen in the Afternoon League Cricket sponsored by Reel & Rom and organized by the Jeddah Cricket Association.
In the other matches, Butt Sports drubbed Al-Boroj by 10 wickets, Jawar Al-Jazirah thumped Al-Gudaid by 153 runs, ICC Irfan Basha got the better of Al-Khulais by 5 wickets, Hyderabad Green made short work of Reel & Rom by 108 runs while KAIA and Natco scored identical 7 wickets win over Desert Warriors and Micro Engineering respectively.
MHA put up 218 for 7 and got a scare before restricting Saleheen to 212. Zia-ul-Haq top-scored with 57 runs. Yusuf (55), Abdul Ghafoor (38) and Adeel (21) were the other contributors. Nasir grabbed 5 for 57.
In reply, Saleheen’s Faisal was in full cry and led the run chase with a gallant 98 runs when he retired hurt while trying to hook. Sabir (55), Nasir (20) and Amer (24 not out) were the other contributors.
In another match, Al Boroj were bundled out for 142 with Fahad 42 the only batsman who offered some resistance. Imran and Javed claimed 2 wickets each for 12 runs. In reply Butt Sports managed to reach the target of 143 off 10 overs without losing a wicket as Imran Butt launched his fusillade from the first ball dominating the innings, thrashing the bowlers to all parts of the ground. He scored a brilliant unbeaten 103 of only 33 balls with 20 power packed fours and 3 huge sixes while Javed was unbeaten with 36.
Elsewhere, Al Khulais scored 167 for 8, which was overhauled by ICC Irfan Basha for the loss of 5 wickets. For Al Khulais Aslam (35), Akmal (25), Hafiz Ismail (36), Abid (23) and Shahid (21 N.O) made useful contributions. Atta-ur-Rahman claimed 3 for 30 runs while Nabeel and Muhammad had 2 each for 35 and 31 runs respectively. In reply ICC Irfan Basha reached 168 for 5. Sadiq scored 46 while Raheel remained unbeaten with 57 to take their team to a 5-wicket win. Hafiz Ismail and Shahid had 2 victims each for 41 and 38 runs respectively.
Jawar Al Jazirah amassed 309 runs with openers Shaun Malik (85) and Shahzad Ahmad (32) laying a solid foundation with a 122-run opening partnership. Later, Amer Shahzad came in and hammered an unbeaten 115 (14 fours, 6 sixes) while Asim (57) gave him good support.
In reply Al Qudaid managed 156 runs. Majid (33), Ahsan (21), Hussain (32) were the only ones to offer resistance while Umar and Zahid claimed 3 for 21 and 2 for 10 respectively to give their team a big win by 153 runs.
Later, Desert Warriors reached 207 for 7 against KAIA. Khalid led the way with 44 while Masihullah (32) and Junaid (28) gave him good support. Arshad claimed 3 for 39 whereas Imran had 2 for 33 runs. In reply KAIA reached the target of 208 for 3 with 4 overs in hand. KAIA lost 3 early wickets but Imran Ali dominated the proceedings with an unbeaten 119, which included 12 hits to the ropes and 7 hits over it. Majid supported him with an unbeaten 37. Bakar picked up 2 for 38 runs.
Hyderabad posted 221 for 4 against Reel & Rom. Amer Wahla once again continued his good form and scored 70 runs. He got good support from Waqar (53), Ejaz (41) and Amer Gujjar (37).
In reply sponsors team Reel & Rom were all out for a paltry 113. Amer Gujjar took 3 for 37 while Aijaz and Majid had 2 wickets each for 21 and 19 runs respectively. Sami (29), Amjad (31) were the only notable contributions.
Micro Engineering scored 148 runs, which Natco reached comfortably for loss of 3 wickets. Kaleem made 36 while Abid chipped in with 47. Ashiq sent back 4 batsmen to pavilion for 20 runs while Abdul Wahid and Husnain claimed 2 wickets each for 32 and 27 runs. Natco lost 2 early wickets, thereafter Adnan (49) steadied the slide and along with Chand (43) and Majid Bhatti (31 NO) ensured no further damage to enable their team reach the target of 149 for 3.
