The seventh Asian Film Festival concluded here on Monday with a mouthwatering array of the finest dishes from 13 member-countries of the Asian Consul Generals Club (ACGC).
Anwar Habiballah, the Chinese consul general and coordinator of the film festival, said the events were an opportunity for officials to get greater understanding of other cultures.
Nur Ibrahim, the Indonesian vice consul general, had earlier welcomed the guests at the Indonesian consul general's residence.
There were two to three traditional dishes from the 13 countries, resulting in a heady mix of colors and smells.
The people enjoyed a variety of dishes including mutton khari, mutton pulao, roghni nan, traditional Pakistani kheer, Korean kimchi, Bengali chicken rice, Indian chicken biryani, Indian chicken 65, Japanese sushi, Indonesian lapis legit, Thai chicken green curry with noodles, Malaysian ice sweets, Singapore mi goring, and Philippine seafood noodles.
"It’s really a fantastic festival, showing the rich culture of Asian countries. I enjoyed it because each country has a specific style and flavor,” said Saleh Saban, an artist.
Shin Yong-Gi, the South Korean consul general, said that the Asian food festival was the best place to present Korea's culture, food and hospitality.
Aftab Khokhar, the Pakistan consul general, said the event was an opportunity for communities to come together, and would strengthen ties between countries. He particularly enjoyed the mutton pulao.
Raziff Aljunied, Singapore's consul general, agreed that the event would bring countries closer together.
