Iran’s role in Mideast

If Iran really wants closer ties with Gulf, it should withdraw its support to the brutal regime of Bashar Assad and stop stoking sectarian tensions in other parts of the Middle East. Apparently the Gulf Arab countries are willing to embrace Iran in the larger interest of the region. Tehran, on the other hand, is playing a dubious role.
It should walk the talk. Due to Tehran’s unwavering support to Assad and interference in Iraq, the entire region is sitting on a powder keg. The situation had really become highly inflammable. The region is fast becoming divided along sectarian lines.
Sometimes I feel that Iran issues such statements to hoodwink the world and portray itself as a peace-loving country, which is a far cry from the truth.
