This is in response to the letter “Unrest over MQM chief’s arrest” by Khawaja Umer Farooq (June 5). The British judicial system is well known in the world for its fairness, impartiality and rationalism. Court’s decisions are based on what the law says and what the evidence proves; there is no place in the courts for suspicion, bias or favoritism. Similarly, the British police perform their duties honestly within the boundaries of the laws of the country and without any bias toward anyone. The supporters of Altaf Hussain should know that their leader is not in the hands of a Third World Gestapo rather he has been arrested by a police famous for its honesty.
If the MQM chief is innocent then there is nothing to worry about. Truth will certainly find its way.
Instead of setting vehicles on fire, forcing markets to close down, creating chaos and disorder on the streets and making the lives of people miserable, his supporters should wait for the law to take its course. — Sultan Yousuf, Riyadh
