The Supreme Medical Commission (SMC), an affiliate of the Ministry of Health, has approved the treatment of 235 patients at government expense inside and outside the Kingdom of which 87 cases will be treated in the US, Germany, China, France, Spain, Britain, the Philippines, India, Pakistan, Egypt and Jordan, Sabq news wire said.
Germany gets the biggest share of the patients at 19 cases, followed by the US and China (18 each), Britain and Jordan (11 each), Egypt (3), France, India, and Pakistan (2 each), and Spain and the Philippines (one each), said Mishal Al-Mishal, head of Medical Commissions and Health Missions at MoH.
In addition, the SMC has approved the extension of treatment for 70 patients in the US, 26 in Germany and 3 in Britain. Meanwhile, 98 cases were referred to the Kingdom’s medical facilities due to the availability of treatment within the Kingdom, he added.
The commission comprises officials from different government bodies such as the Ministries of Defense, Interior and Health, the National Guard, King Saud University and King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center.
