JEDDAH: The executive table for implementing the system to transfer information of electronic facilities to the National Information Center in the Interior Ministry is starting under the Shomos Security System on Feb. 12.
Fourteen articles of the new law are about existing private touristic accommodations, rest areas, car rentals, gold and silver buying and jewelry, transporting passengers between cities inside or outside the Kingdom, passenger transport, real estate rentals, sports centers, and selling vehicles whose registrations are canceled.
The Shomos’ objectives include laying down a base to the transfer of information from those dealing with private facilities to the National Information Center in the Interior Ministry electronically and update its mechanism to control violations.
The Information Center will provide technical links between Shomos and the other systems benefiting all those involved quickly. The center will also offer all of its technical services to the benefiting parties, and governmental and private agencies, to ease the transfer of information through Shomos.
The law requires private facilities to subscribe to Shomos and that the facilities that don’t register will be warned and then fined SR10,000 if they don’t register within 30 days from the day of warning. They will be fined SR 25,000 if they don’t subscribe in 30 days of the date it was warned of the decision to impose a fine. Finally work will be stopped till further notice.
The new law makes clear that if the facility doesn’t register information comprehensively and correctly, it will be warned and then fined SR 5,000 if the violation recurs within six months. If it is fined a third time in six months from the second violation, its activities will be stopped for 60 days.
The new law requires all existing facilities with computer systems to subscribe and link them to Shomos and that subscription is a must for licensing purposes, either for being involved in touristic accommodation as staying overnight in hotels or residential flats or as a supporting service. This is in addition to the other facilities like rest areas, car rentals jewelry purchases, etc.
