JEDDAH: The 7th Annual Sports Meet of Girls Section, MISJ, took place over the weekend at the school ground in a festive atmosphere.
The event was marked by a sequence of spectacular performances presented by the young budding champs of Grade 1 to 10 in a display of passion and sportsmanship.
The grand opening ceremony was graced by Farhadunnisa, vice principal of International Indian School Jeddah, the Principal (GS) Salma Shaik and school officials.
The opening ceremony began with a recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an followed by its translation. NehlaJameel, the head girl welcomed the audience. The Sports Captain Vaseela Mohammed administered the oath of sportsmanship of the participants. Farhadunnisa declared the sports meet open.The sports torch was carried by the sports captain and the house captains.
Then there were various drill displays presented by the students that kept the spectators spellbound. The long awaited competitions were held which included track events and other events like tricycle race, sack race, lime and spoon etc.
Teachers, non-teaching staff and some parents also participated in the fun games and track events. The competitors exceeded expectations and performed to an exceptionally high standard in all events.
The prizes were handed out by the Principal Shaik and other officials. The Topaz (Yellow) house bagged the overall championship followed by the Ruby (Red) house . The individual champions were Master Mohammed Shahin (Grade-1), Yousra (Grade-2) , Yusra Khalid (Grade-4), MishalaFahmi (Grade-7), Vaseela Mohammed (Grade-10) in different categories respectively.
The event ended successfully with the vote of thanks. The venue was decorated with flags, flowers, buntings and balloons a day earlier. It was an absolutely a beautiful day for both the staff and students.
