International players dominate Jubail Open 2016 badminton tilt

JUBAIL: The Jubail Open 2016 International Invitational tournament by Saudi Badminton Committee & Expatriate Badminton Association (EBASA) in collaboration with Royal Commission for Jubail came to a successful end last Saturday at Al Huwailat indoor Club, Jubail.
The international players invited for this two-day tournament were from five countries namely Indonesia, Malaysia, India , Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The Indonesian players were: Fikry Ihsandi Hadmadi, Andrei Adistia and Bona Septano; Malaysians Kah Ming Chooi, Tech Zhi Soo and Ow Yao Han; Indians Shreyanshkumar Jaiswal, Shlok Ramachandran and Sanyam Shukla, and Pakistanis Rizwan Azam, Murad Ali and Kashif Ali.
The international referee and umpires were Ashley George, Anil O.M. and Jojan John from Bahrain.
In the singles final, Fikry Ihsandi Hadmadi from Indonesia beat Shreyanshkumar Jaiswal of India in a closely fought match 21-18, 21-14. The second and third runners-up were Tech Zhi Zoo and Murad Ali. The doubles final was between Malaysia’s Kah Ming Chooi & Ow Yao Han and Indonesia’s Andrei Adistia & Bona Septano. The Malaysians won the championship in a thrilling straight sets win 21-19, 21-17. The 3rd, 4th and 5th places went to India, Pakistan & the combined team of Malaysia & Indonesia.
Prize money and trophies were given away by the sponsors to all winners and runners-up.
More than 25 Saudi boys played in various flights in junior singles and doubles. All the boys were brought in by Saudi Badminton Committee. Over 400 players of various nationalities from Riyadh and Eastern Province took part in this mega event in 9 levels. The standard of the players were much above expectation. In the Premier Flight, the winners were Shihab Mohd & Vinu Johny.
This tournament was directly under Saudi Badminton Committee and the special representative Olayan Al Harbi was present for the event. The tournament director K.I. Ansari was very much instrumental in this tournament.
The general secretary Arif Shamsudeen took care of the prize distribution program.
EBASA President George Puthen Madhom in his speech congratulated all the winners and runners-up and appreciated the great support from various sponsors.
The effort put by the EBASA Executive Council members in conducting this massive tournament in 2 days was well appreciated. The Royal commission representative Yakoub Al Dossary congratulated all the winners and assured his support to EBASA in future tournaments. The Social Services section of RC hosted the tournament.
Mementos were presented to Saudi Olympic Committee, Royal Commission for Jubail and Saudi Badminton Committee. All the sponsors were also acknowledged by mementos from EBASA. The main sponsors of the tournament were Khonaini International Co. Ltd, Alpha Graphics, BISCO Integrated Services Corp., Dada Bhai Travel, Delmon, Air India, HATCON, GRC, Tamimi Industrial Services, Akbar Gulf Travels, Al Khater and Our Steel.
