Crimes of Houthis

This is with reference to the report “Houthis take advantage of humanitarian truce” (July 2). I find it strange that so-called rights organizations are criticizing Saudi Arabia over reports spread by Houthis and Iranian agents without ascertaining the authenticity of their claims.
Where were these rights groups or organizations when the Houthis took the entire Yemeni population, which included women and children, hostage at gunpoint?
Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies moved to protect Yemen on the request of the genuine Yemeni leadership, which was forced into exile by these same Houthis.
The role of rights organizations is beyond comprehension. Their biased approach and selective victimization is no longer a secret. They should not ignore Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian assistance to people in distress in different parts of the world.
It is sad to note that these rights groups had turned a blind eye to the crimes of Iranian-backed Houthis when they were scrambling to take over Yemen. Since they are now on the retreat, they are crying foul. The rights groups should not allow Iranian agents to influence their opinions and analyses. — Tariq Hassan, Dammam
