This is with reference to the report “Govt backs Asir youths for taking business initiative” (July 20). It is heartening to note that Saudi youths are interested in doing own business. They are fortunate to have leaders who work round-the-clock for their welfare and support them with different programs. Saudi youth are very talented and they just need the right push to explore their talents. Fortunately, the Saudi government is doing whatever is necessary to provide the youth with the required support to fulfill their dreams.
I call on the private sector to support the government in its efforts to curb unemployment among Saudi youth. Creating job opportunities is not the only way to handle this issue. The private sector should launch business-training programs for the youngsters interested in becoming entrepreneurs. It is not an uphill task. We all need to support the government in its efforts to diversify economy and to introduce sweeping socioeconomic reforms in the Kingdom. — Ghazal Shaheen, Dammam
