Sri Lanka’s victory against Australia in the first Test played in Kandy, Sri Lanka, has given all the Lankans, at home and abroad, a reason to rejoice. The Lankan team is very fortunate to have been blessed with a new cricket sensation, Kunal Mendis, who scored 176 in the Test that laid the foundation of this victory.
On the other hand, Australia set a new world record for not scoring a run for 154 consecutive balls bowled during the dying overs of the match. A few fans of Murali are upset with his decision to join Australian side as a coach. However, the majority believes that his patriotism should not be questioned. We are still grateful to him for his countless match-winning performances for his home country.
I think that we should keep sports away from politics. Sportsmen should be allowed to take up responsibilities with teams of other nations, as it is good for the game.
Sri Lanka with this much-needed victory can do very well in the remaining two Tests of the series. Keep it up Sri Lanka!
