Disgraced Yemeni leader admits Iranian support for Houthis to harm KSA
RIYADH: Ousted Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh frankly admitted in conversation documented days after the occupation of Sanaa that Iran supports the Houthis in order to harm Saudi Arabia as well as Yemen.
He said “Houthis are just servants that carry out Iran’s agenda,” which confirms that he is a main partner of Iran whose agenda is to destabilize the region and security in some Arab countries, particularly Saudi Arabia.
These confessions of the former Yemeni president confirm that he is the real leader of the rebellion against the legitimate government and that officers of the Republican Guard took off their uniforms and entered Sanaa as civilians.
The Yemeni people, like people around the world, needed proof that Saleh is involved in the rebellion and occupation of his country’s provinces, as well as in the theft of weapons for use in attacks against the legitimate government.
The ousted leader would not relinquish his power, but the Saudi-led coalition forces successfully destroyed his arsenal and liberated many provinces occupied by the Houthis. Now, evidence of Saleh’s involvement and support for Iran and the Houthis intent to harm Saudi Arabia was presented by none other than himself.
The contradictions of the ousted president reveal his intentions toward Saudi Arabia. He also knew the Iranian agenda would breed sectarian strife and destabilize the region, and admitted realizing that those who take control of Sanaa’s airport control the capital.
Saleh also said that his forces set up checkpoints as though they were Houthi checkpoints, occupied banks and government institutions, and attacked military facilities.
It is ironic that Saleh should praise “Saudi Arabia’s sincere and generous help to brothers in Yemen to overcome the difficult circumstances they are experiencing,” only to blatantly challenge and deny the Kingdom’s supportive role when cornered.
Saleh cannot deny anymore that he leads the Houthis and that he is well aware that Iran supports them and guides their harmful acts toward the Kingdom, and contributes to breeding sectarian strife in the region.
The former president cannot escape responsibility for all that is happening for Yemen after admitting that he was the planner and implementer of the revolution against the legitimate government, in cooperation with the Houthis, as well as the main reason for the killing and destruction, while trying to place the blame on other countries.
