JEDDAH: Maintenance of computers and electrical gadgets are the most sought after subjects for students of secondary schools for technical training.
The technical and vocational skill development project is being implemented by the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC) in partnership with the Ministry of Education.
A report released by the TVTC about the performance of the project last year revealed that the skill development program for secondary school education was contributing to develop a culture toward technical and vocational education. For this purpose, training in 15 specialties has been made available.
The report said in next phase, more than 300,000 male and female students of secondary schools would be trained, either in morning or evening shifts, or during summer vacation. The students will be given TVTC certificates as per the specialization. This will help them in entering the job market soon after graduating from school, or they can continue their training at the college or technical institute level.
Sixty percent of male and female students of secondary schools prefer training in maintenance of computers and electrical items from among other programs.
