This is with reference to the report “Saudi Arabia and China sign 15 accords” (Aug. 30).
These agreements are aimed at increasing cooperation in various fields. Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s landmark visit to China will usher in a new era of prosperity and development. China under President Xi Jinping is on the road to spectacular progress and it enjoys excellent ties with almost all countries in the world.
At the time of his swearing-in as the president, Xi had vowed to take strong action against corruption and he has achieved remarkable progress in this regard.
Xi has traveled extensively around the globe to forge new alliances with different countries and to meet world leaders. The 63-year-old president is the alumnus of Tsinghu University, which is regarded as one of the most reputed educational institutions of the country.
The best thing about China’s foreign policy is that it is focused on promoting trade and commerce. Beijing believes in the policy of non-interference. We all know how major powers interfere in the internal matters of countries they sign agreements with so as to protect and promote their interests. While doing so, they usually blatantly violate all international and diplomatic norms. However, China’s approach is entirely different and perhaps that is the key to its success.
However, some countries out of jealousy accuse China of wrongdoings and try to malign it. Most of those accusations are usually concocted to obstruct the growth of the great country.
In this regard I recall what Xi said once: “Some foreigners with full bellies and nothing better to do engage in finger-pointing at us. First, China does not export revolution; second, it does not export famine and poverty, and third, it does not mess around with you. So what else is there to say?” — S.H. Moulana, Riyadh
