It is heartening to note that the Kingdom is moving fast to forge new alliances with different economic powers of the world. China and Japan are undoubtedly two great economic powers and partnering with these two countries will help Saudi Arabia experience progress in a relatively short time.
Saudi Arabia has the potential to establish a strong industrial base in the region. Of course, in order to achieve this goal, every country needs the expertise of those nations who have already achieved a distinct position in this regard. Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to China and Japan is of huge importance at a time when the Kingdom is on the path to huge socioeconomic transformation.
The best thing about the eastern economic powers is that they deal with their trading partners in a very different manner. Unlike their western counterparts, they don’t impose their will on the other party. Saudi Arabia should increase the level of cooperation with China and Japan in every sphere of life. There should be a regular exchange of intellectuals and scholars between the countries so as to help understand each other better.
I strongly believe that the days of military interventions are numbered. An era of economic alliances is about to dawn on us. We should be prepared to welcome that era with open arms and calm minds. Fortunately, the Kingdom’s leadership is taking all possible measures to adapt to the fast-evolving global trend. — Salman Malik, Riyadh
