I read with interest the article “Fear — a poor basis for policy decisions” (Sept. 5) by Paul Currion. I do agree with the views expressed by the writer. He has nicely exposed the mentality of politicians. It is correct that the politicians are making good use of the ongoing financial crises to their advantage.
Refugees are not the problem. As a matter of fact, these refugees could easily contribute to the growth of their host countries if given a chance.
Unfortunately, so-called populist forces are cunningly imposing their agenda on the people and the masses are unable to understand their true aspirations. I urge everybody to read the article in question and to absorb the main ideas to develop a better understanding of the current political situation in Europe and elsewhere. These populist leaders will only reveal their true colors and by that time it will be too late for the Europeans to take any concrete measure to address the issue. — Tariq H. Ali, Riyadh
