The news report “Old newspaper reveals previous attempts by Iran to undermine Haj,” (Sept. 14) cite netizens uploading on Twitter a newspaper page that goes back to 1927, saying that Iran had been trying to undermine Saudi Arabia in connection with the Haj.
All such acts by Iran show that it does not believe in the Oneness of Allah, Who enjoins us to remain united and reject division.
In Islam, there is no division indeed. It is one Ummah. Even divided in different schools of thought, we could have still held the thread of unity. Any divisive behavior therefore is driven by the satanic urge that eggs us on to stage demonstrations and protests during Haj rituals and prayers.
We have seen the hands of Iran and Hezbollah in such disturbances during Haj causing a stampede that killed ihram-clad pilgrims in thousands. This is a grave mistake on the part of Iran, which has drawn the ire of the international community in the past.
Even the western nations must condemn such acts, or else it will be considered as double standard in their approach while responding to a killing. It is indeed high time the world warned Iran to refrain from such activities.
Allah Almighty says in the Qur’an that Islam is the religion of truth and justice (Deen Al-Haq). And Muslims have their Islamic right to reject all such falsehoods, acts of sedition and fanaticism of any shade.
The report rightly mentioned about Iran’s designs to disrupt the pilgrimage. It also mentioned about the deviant thoughts.
Iran should shun such unIslamic concepts, as also its belief that the progeny of the Prophet (peace be upon him) are free from sins. Such a concept is inaccurate.
I hope better sense will prevail on the Iranian leaders. — Mazhar Uddin, By e-mail
