JEDDAH: The German National Academy of Sciences has chosen Saudi scholar and Shoura Council member Hayat Sindi to highlight the role of Muslim scholars in science, discoveries and innovation.
Scholars and intellectuals eagerly await the lecture of Sindi about new ideas and future visions, as well as a comprehensive study that links science and intercultural dialogue.
Sindi will deliver the lecture on Sept. 23-24 in Leopoldina, Germany.
The German National Academy of Sciences chose Sindi “due to her successes and innovation in the biotechnology sector, and her support of young innovators, as well as for her innovations and ideas that serve humanity, science and the poor.”
Sindi, who received an official invitation from the academy, said her lecture will address “the role of Muslim scholars and their contributions to science, discovery and innovation.”
She said the lecture will review the birth of modern science within the Islamic civilization at the beginning of the 8th Century, and how these contributions are the foundation that led to what we have seen from the Arabic, Indian and Greek civilizations.
