The National Water Company (NWC) has signed a number of contracts aimed at detecting leakages of water pipes in houses that use more than the usual amount of water in Riyadh city. The contracts are estimated to cost a total of more than SR 40 million. NWC will detect visible and invisible water leaks of about 80,000 houses free of cost during 2012. If any leakage is detected, the consumer would be asked to undertake the repair at his expense.
NWC would also carry out a project worth over SR 9 million to update the database of all water and sewage facility users in the capital. According to the contract, working teams will visit houses of consumers and update their data in a prescribed form.
