Guess who is basking in the success of a recent release? Yes it’s the ‘Happy New Year’ girl in her portrayal as ‘Piku’.

After the film raked in praises so pleased was Deepika Padukone that she urged the architect of the film, Shoojit Sircar to plan ‘Piku’ part 2, according to the buzz. Of course it was done in a casual way. But, reality is that many fans of ‘Piku’ would want Sircar only to make the sequel, if at all. And you might remember reading that two scenes had to be edited. This was something that Shoojit regretted. Considering the fact that people are totally enamored with this story that revolves around a Bengali manush Bhaskor Banerjee and his headstrong daughter Piku, he really feels those scenes could have added more value.

‘Piku’ released on May 8. ‘Bombay Velvet’ released a week later. While ‘Piku’ rested on Deepika Padukone’s able shoulders, ‘Bombay Velvet’ was balanced on her ex-flame — Ranbir Kapoor. ‘Piku’ got a good opening at the box office while ‘BV’ was termed a disaster. Here’s why:

‘Piku’ is a small budget film which struck the ‘hit’ button within days of its release. While ‘Bombay Velvet’, made on an extravagant budget of over Rs 100 crore has more at stake as recovery is big. ‘BV’ suffered a huge setback with negative reviews and bad word of mouth — almost making one write it off!

So, it looks like the ‘Finding Fanny’ star is on a win-win wicket! This time she has left her ex-beau far behind on the racing track.

But there is more in stock for this pair. There’s the upcoming flick ‘Tamasha’ where both the actors are in the leading role. Sure, she is being showered with praise for her amazing performance in ‘Piku’, but with the release date of ‘Tamasha’ confirmed for Nov. 27, she is eagerly awaiting her next film with Imtiaz Ali.

“I am absolutely looking forward to ‘Tamasha’. I am satisfied for this year. I am very happy. God has been really kind. ‘Piku’ is the cake, ‘Tamasha’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’ will be the two cherries,” said an elated Deepika Padukone to Bollywood Hungama.

And, Ranbir went public about his marriage with Katrina Kaif next year, but Deepika seems to be not in a hurry. She is allegedly in a relationship with actor Ranveer Singh, her co-star in ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

She clarified to IANS “I don’t know about settling down. Your career is one thing but, settling down with one person for the rest of your life... that’s a completely different feeling, thought and idea. I don’t think I’m ready for that.”

Her hectic shooting schedule and promotional events lined up for ‘Piku’ ensured that the 29-year-old star was left with no free time to zip across to her hometown Bengaluru, even though she wished to see her parents very much! The prize you pay for success! As soon as Deepika got to know that the shoot of ‘Bajirao Mastani’, in which she shares screen space with her rumored boyfriend Ranveer Singh, got canceled, she booked the first flight back home.

“Yes, Deepika has gone back home to Bangalore for a day. She has been wanting to meet her parents. She will be back in the city in a day,” Deepika’s spokesperson said in a statement.

Her life is star-spangled, but she is still grounded. She is wired, especially with her parents, just like her ‘reel’ life avatar in ‘Piku’.
