Pakistan Ambassador Muhammad Naeem Khan opened a free eye clinic hosted by Pakistan Doctor’s Group-Riyadh (PDG-R) at the mission’s premises recently.
More than 700 patients were offered medical consultations, clinical procedures and laboratory tests and got expensive medication free of charge. The patients included men, women and children from the Pakistani community in Riyadh, many of whom came from the neighboring areas of the capital.
“The Pakistan doctors are an excellent resource to us,” the envoy said. He explained that the newly opened eye clinic would be part of the Free Medical Clinic, which runs five days a week at the embassy.
“This free clinic is into its fifth year now and we are very proud of the Pakistani doctors for their unstinted cooperation and timeless efforts toward making this a successful endeavor,” he added.
The ambassador also announced that, with the help of Pakistani doctors in the Eastern Province, he has plans to host a similar free medical camp at Tamimi Compound in Alkhobar.
The envoy also has plans to open a clinic in Tabuk and in other parts of the Kingdom, where there is a concentration of Pakistani community members.
“This is the second free medical camp this year and we plan to host such camps quarterly,” said Arif Hussain, president of PDG-R.
“The doctors who took part in the free medical camp were specialists in gynecology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, psychiatry and surgery.
He also said that sophisticated diagnostics were offered to the patients including ultrasound and echocardiography.
Established laboratories in Riyadh collected and analyzed specimens for lab tests,” he added.
“Following the receipt of reports, the patients are called in for a follow-up at the free clinic at the embassy,” said Hussain.
The embassy arranged for buses to ferry patients from various designated points in Riyadh to the free medical camp.
