Pakistan International School in Jeddah-English Section held its Annual Sports Day for junior boys and girls, from the nursery level through Grade 1, last Thursday and for Grade level 2 through Grade level 4 last Saturday.
The little angels and young daffodils exhibited their hard work in athletic skills by competing in different color houses i.e. Blue, Red, Green and Yellow. Each house was splendidly decorated under a specific theme. Blue House represented ‘Dynamic Sharks,’ Red House ‘Glorious Gladiators,’ Green House “Soldiers” and Yellow House represented “Roaring Jaguars.” The four houses’ colors added glamor and attraction to the day.
The program started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an followed by a Nasheed and a flag-hoisting ceremony. The national anthems of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia were then sung.
The PISJ-ES principal and Pakistan senator, Sehar Kamran, in her message to the students said, “At PISJ-ES we give equal importance to curricular and extracurricular activities, which is the main reason we have organized a separate Sports Day for our young daffodils and falcons. This is a manifestation of our resolve to groom these little ones and provide equal opportunities to all.” Sehar Kamran also said that sports is one of the most important facets of education; beyond promoting health, it teaches teamwork — how to get along with others and how to work together to achieve a common goal.
The Sports Day is one of the most awaited events at PISJ-ES bringing forth and promoting the student talent in diverse range of athletic sports. It is the combined effort of teachers, supporting staff and school administration.
To get the audience and young athletes into groove for the Sports Day, the innocent tiny trots energetically gave a beautiful performance of welcome display, representing cute, adorable and naughty smurfs.
