JEDDAH: The Ministry of Labour has recently inspected 1,225 cases of construction companies failing to comply with the midday work ban.

The ban prohibits all construction firms from instructing employees to work outdoors from noon to 3 p.m., from June 15 to September 15. The ministry ensured its commitment to follow the implementation of the ban closely, assuring the health and safety of the workers during the searing heat of the period. The procedure of monitoring violators includes pursuing reports sent via social media or through the ministry’s customer service number 19911.

The ministry released a statement on Sunday stating sanctions will be applied to all violating facilities as per Article 236 of the Labour Code, which authorizes fines of up to SR10,000 per violation. In some cases, violations may also result in the temporary or permanent closure of the facility, in order to minimize risks posed by the labour.
