Saudi customs officers at Halat Ammar checkpoint on the border with Jordan have foiled a bid to smuggle 2.8 million Captagon pills into the country, local media said.

Fahad Al-Harbi, the director general of the checkpoint, reportedly said that customs officers had found the narcotics in a private car’s trunk, reserve fuel tank, air-conditioner ducts, and floor of the rear cabin. Saudi security officers arrested the driver of the car. Meanwhile, anti-drug officers in Jordan arrested a Syrian who was planning to smuggle 700,000 narcotic pills into Saudi Arabia, local media reported quoting Jordanian sources.
