JEDDAH: Seven people had to be admitted to hospital after they were injured during a fistfight between two groups at the Criminal Court in Al-Ahsa on Monday morning.
The fight broke out between the rival groups near the office of a judge in the first floor of the court building, local media reported on Tuesday.
A total of 35 suspects were arrested for indulging in violence and violating the code of conduct during court sessions. They would be referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecutor for further procedures, the report said.
The doors of the court were closed and security men and court employees intervened.
Col. Ziyad Al-Ruqaiti, spokesman for Eastern Province police, was quoted as saying the police received a report about the fight as the court was hearing a case involving them.
"The fight resulted in injuries to seven people, who were taken to hospital for treatment. The security force inside the court managed to control the fight with the support of the security patrols and the special security and missions force," he said.
