The King Abdul Aziz Foundation (Darah) has published a new book containing the historic speech made by Vice Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Prince Salman at the Madinah Islamic University last year.
The 146-page book entitled “The Historical and Intellectual Basis of the Saudi State” contains the answers given by Prince Salman to questions raised by the audience as well as analytical press reports on the speech.
In his keynote address, Prince Salman had explained the various phases of the formation of Saudi Arabia, as well as the historical and political phases of the Islamic state in Madinah, and Omayyad and Abbasid dynasties.
Prince Salman emphasized the Kingdom’s adherence to Islamic teachings. “Article one of the Kingdom’s Basic System of Governance states that it is an Arab and Islamic state, its religion is Islam and its constitution is the Qur’an and Sunnah.” Articles Seven and Eight of the same law state that the Kingdom’s rules and regulations would be based on the Qur’an and Sunnah. The Kingdom will also establish justice and equality and follow the Shoura system in accordance with Shariah, the law added.
In his speech, Prince Salman commended the efforts of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah for the success of Islamic causes and in the service of the Two Holy Mosques as well as for the progress and prosperity of the Saudi people.
