Cabinet ratifies GCC anti-dumping law

The Council of Ministers yesterday endorsed the new GCC anti-dumping law, which was ratified by the GCC Supreme Council in its 31st session held in Abu Dhabi on Dec. 7, 2010.
“The summit resolutions will strengthen Arab joint action and contribute to Arab economic integration, boosting the welfare and prosperity of the Arab people,” the Cabinet said.
Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, chaired the Cabinet meeting at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh.
At the outset, the crown prince, on behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, expressed his thanks and appreciation to Arab leaders for making the Riyadh summit a success.
Prince Salman underscored King Abdullah’s initiative to increase the capital of Arab financial institutions and joint companies by not less than 50 percent with the Kingdom's commitment to pay its share of the increase.
“This shows the king's keenness to advance Arab development efforts and achieve goals that will directly and immediately benefits Arab citizens,” the Cabinet said.
Minister of Culture and Information Abdul Aziz Khoja said the Cabinet reviewed regional and international developments, stressing the Kingdom's positions before a regular session of the UN Security Council that was convened to discuss the situation in the Middle East.
In other developments, Khoja said the Cabinet decided to authorize the defense minister or his deputy to discuss with Germany a draft agreement between the two defense ministries for the protection of classified information.
The Cabinet also approved an agreement between the Saudi Red Crescent Authority and the Turkish Red Crescent Society, which was signed in Ankara on March 14, 2012.
The Council of Ministers approved the amendment of Article 8 of the Saudi Standards and Quality Organization law issued by the Cabinet. The Organization shall have the Board of Directors as follows: Minister of Commerce and Industry as president; its governor as vice president; the representative of Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs as member; two representatives of the Interior Ministry (Traffic and Civil Defense), a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Water and Electricity, the Ministry of Finance (Customs), the Saudi Food and Drug Authority as members. It will also have three businessmen, nominated by the president after coordination with the chairman of Council of Saudi Chambers as members. The Cabinet shall appoint its members.
The Cabinet also approved the rules and regulations of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. It appointed Majdi bin Saeed Al-Mansour and Othman bin Mohammed Al-Afaisan ministers plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Abdul Aziz bin Mohamed Al-Mady assistant undersecretary for classification at the Ministry of Civil Service; Yousuf bin Ibrahim Al-Hamed assistant undersecretary for employment at the Ministry of Civil Service; and Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al-Howaimel management consultant at Dar Al-Ifta.
