JEDDAH: The Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) is linking up with various companies and the National Organization for Joint Training (NOJT) to offer 1,035 jobs in 59 sectors to Saudis at a career fair here on Oct. 13 and 14.

Mohiuddin Hakmi, the deputy secretary-general of the JCCI, Abid bin Abdullah Al-Akkad, director of employment at the JCCI, Khalid Ghazi Twab, director of the NOJT in Makkah, Sehan Salem Al-Zahrani, supervisor of the training program, and other officials met here recently to add the finishing touches to the fair.

Hakmi welcomed the business owners and organizers and said the largest number of jobs would be on offer. There was also collaboration with the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, and the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF).

Al-Akkad said there would be more than 20 companies and institutions at the fair, covering tourism, administration, accounting, sales, marketing, maintenance of household appliances, car maintenance, construction, and security.

He said the HRDF would raise the reward for those undergoing training, from SR1,500 to SR3,000, apart from their certification at the end of the period specified.

Twab said he has urged companies to employ young people, stressing that there would be long term benefits from doing so. There would be personal interviews with candidates at the fair, he said.
