Shoura Council President Abdullah Al-Asheikh said that leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries will discuss in their upcoming annual summit in Doha ways to reduce the problems facing these countries on both individual and state levels.

Speaking to local media on the sidelines of the eighth regular meeting of heads of Shoura councils, hosted by the Qatari Shoura Council, he said that the Gulf summit held in Riyadh on Nov. 16 had resolved many Gulf issues.

“Our meeting in Doha will activate the call and invitation of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to clear all differences,” Al-Asheikh said, adding that the Riyadh summit had opened the way for this meeting to put aside all differences among the GCC countries.

He stressed that the Gulf is different from other parts of the world as GCC governments worked for the good of humanity in an Arabic or Islamic context.

He admitted that the Gulf had its problems but called on all parties to think of ways to resolve them. He also said that the proposal for the establishment of a Gulf Parliament on the lines of the European Parliament is under consideration but does not figure on the current agenda.

Al-Asheikh said that the call of King Abdullah for the integration of all GCC countries must be done methodically.
