Ebsar Foundation, a charitable organization that supports visually impaired people, intends to establish an advanced medical facility — Ebsar Village — in Jeddah to help people suffering from vision loss and weakness.

“This is a great project,” said Prince Talal, president of AGFUND and honorary president of Ebsar while chairing a meeting of the organization’s general assembly.

“It has been a dream of the foundation as well as visually impaired people,” he said and urged businessmen and philanthropists to support the humanitarian project to make it a reality.

“We want to make Ebsar a stronger charity and a model for other organizations that work in the same field at regional and international levels,” he said while commending the government’s support for Ebsar.

Ahmed Mohammed Ali, chairman of Ebsar’s board of directors, spoke about measures taken to increase revenue for the organization and finance some of its programs.

“We’ll continue to hold campaigns to prevent blindness and special courses to enlighten public on protecting their vision,” said Ali, who is also president of the Islamic Development Bank Group.

He said steps have been taken to establish a company for supplying materials required by visually impaired people. “We have also taken lot of efforts to enlighten families of the blind on the need to take steps for their education and rehabilitation,” he said.

Abdul Aziz Hanafi, a member of the board and financial supervisor, praised Prince Talal’s efforts for the training and employment of people who have lost their vision and to improve the foundation’s services.
