There are many factors to open up multiple avenues to improve any person's functional level, besides an internal conviction and desire for better change.

These factors include completion of university studies, raise scientific degrees, and attendance of developmental training courses and workshops, as well as follow-up seminars and conferences.

Reema Al-Areej, self-development trainer, said that inactivity is not a good attribute for the successful person, as it kills any ambitions, while training and development reflect positively on the employee's mental state and productivity.

Meshaal Al-Shammari, director of training and marketing foundation, said: "Employee development is important through learning a new language, attending a training course."

"The employee should follow-up continuously all opportunities that add to his functional abilities," Al-Shammari explained, adding that training and development have become the basis of success.

Ghada Al-Salem, human development trainer, said that the employee's success in work depends primarily on the effective performance of the required tasks, which needs great effort.

She added that the employer should provide appropriate training courses and the employee should attend such courses, and apply what has been learned in an efficient manner.

Speaking on improving the functional level for employees, Hanan Al-Muthanna said: "This creates a distinct working environment, and the employees should have self-motivations." “The employer plays an important role in explaining the benefits of development courses for employees and offering them. Some officers achieve great progress when they find managers appreciate their performance and capabilities.” Al-Muthanna added.

Wafa Al-Otaibi, educational supervisor, said that improvement of employee's functional level has great importance for the employer, pointing out that the lack of desire for career development related to two factors; internal, which emitted from the employee himself, and the second is external concerning the managers due to stereotypical and traditional system.
