RIYADH: The Meteorological and Environmental Protection Administration (MEPA) announced on Friday that extremely hot weather conditions are expected to prevail in the eastern and central regions of the Kingdom on Saturday.

Active winds and disturbing dusts are also expected in the northeastern part of the Kingdom as well as in Makkah, Jazan, Asir and Baha.

Surface winds on the Red Sea will move southwest to west with speed of 15 km to 40 km per hour on the southern part. Waves up to a meter high are also expected. The sea is also expected to be moderate and wavy while wind movement on the Arabian Gulf will move from east to northeast at 10 km to 30 km per hour.

Meanwhile, a local academic researcher has predicted air instability with possible rains starting middle of next week. He pointed out that the expected impact zones is the southwestern highlands that include Yemen, Asir, Baha, Taif and the eastern parts of Makkah and stretching northward to hit north of Makkah and Madinah, particularly the higher reaches.

He said that there are indications that winds will blow from the Arabian Sea with high humidity.

Citizens are cautioned not to leave their homes unless absolutely necessary. They are also advised not to relax in valleys and motorists on the highways are warned against dust and winds.
