The heavy rain and flooding across the Kingdom has seen some people use creative methods to go about their daily business.

In the flooded streets of the coastal town of Snabs in the Eastern Province on Wednesday, a middle-aged Saudi man was filmed sitting on a thick polystyrene board pushing himself forward with a pole.

“A lake has been surrounding the neighborhood for three days now,” the man said in the 52-second video posted on YouTube.

He said he was heading to the local supermarket to shop for his family.

His car broke down because of the rain and he had to use the foam board for his Gondola-like transportation. As the man made his way through the water, a neighbor called for him to do his shopping. “Go get a foam board and do your own shopping,” the unidentified man replied.

Another man was seen using a homemade boat with motorists in Riyadh on Wednesday. The man, who sounded like a Sudanese national, spoke with motorists and pedestrians in the 16-second video posted on YouTube. He also used a pole to propel his boat forward.

Heavy rain fell in the Eastern Province and Riyadh this week with more expected over the weekend.
